Albert Einstein, I don’t know which picture comes to your mind, but when I hear this name, I remember his photo with his tongue out.

As someone who follows a lot of science groups on Facebook, I’ve seen tons of memes with that image. For a long time, I thought it was an edited picture. I mean, why would a genius, whose slightest action could spark debates, pose like that?

But guess what? While reading about his life, I found out that it wasn’t edited. It’s a real picture! And do you know when it was taken? March 14, 1951 — his 72nd birthday.

Let me tell you what happened.

What Happened?

This picture was taken when Einstein was heading back from his birthday party at Princeton University. He was in a car with Dr. Frank Aydelotte, the former head of the university, and his wife.

As they were about to leave, a bunch of photographers surrounded the car and insisted the birthday boy for one last picture.

Einstein had probably spent the entire day meeting people, shaking hands, and posing for photos. He must have been so done with it all.

At this point, Einstein, being the legend that he is, decided he’d had enough of playing nice. Instead of giving them a polite smile, he stuck out his tongue in irritation and shouted, “That’s enough!”

Then he just sat back in the car and drove off. Honestly, if I were in his place, I might’ve thrown a shoe at them. But Einstein? He gave us gold instead.

The Aftermath

The best part? Einstein actually liked the photo. He liked it so much that he requested copies of it and even used it on greeting cards. Imagine getting a greeting card from Einstein with that picture on it. Now that’s a keepsake I’d treasure forever!

Why It’s Awesome

Now, we’re left with this iconic image that’s perfect for memes and probably even better for greeting cards. It’s not just a picture; it’s a reminder that even the smartest people can have a little fun — or in this case, a lot of sass.
